The family friendly course is made to be a general overview for the public to understand what are the differences between Ice Cream, Gelato, Sorbet, and the Artisan-made vs Industrial versions of these frozen desserts. They will get to see a frozen dessert be made in front of them and should leave with a general understanding of the science behind what makes Gelato taste so good!
The course will be taught by Carpigiani Gelato University Instructor, Baron Gottsacker. He is a Wisconsin Native, and outside of teaching courses and other activities for CGU, he runs his own brand, called Baron’s Gelato.
Baron will tailor the course to the knowledge level of the audience. For example if it is mostly children in the class, he will steer to fun flavors and stories: alternately we have seen that in many of these courses attract local Gelato aficionados whom have come with prepared questions and Baron will direct the course in a more technical direction.
Lastly, Baron will prepare a fruit sorbet in front of the class. In less than 10 minutes Baron will transform fresh fruit, table sugar & water into a deliciously creamy sorbet without the addition of milk or dairy. This is perfect lesson to show the students the science behind what really makes a Gelato creamy, what keeps it from being a solid block, and what makes it so delicious!
Learn the secrets of what makes Gelato so delicious! Take your first step into the Gelato World and see fresh local fruit transformed into Sorbet, in just minutes. A live demonstration followed by a free tasting.

Speed Cup Race

Each chef has 30 seconds to serve as many perfect servings as possible.
Speed is King! After picking a card to find out your penalty, try and serve as many Gelato portions in your allotted time as you can. Artisan with the most points wins!
