America has voted, and Gelato Festival America will return to the capital this year to reach across the aisle from both sides… to take a scoop of artisanal gelato! Washington, D.C. will vote again, this time to decide the best gelato flavor at the stylish City Market at O, September 3rd & 4th. A wristband entitles you to taste all the gelato you can eat while participating in all the Festival activities, as well as cast a vote for your favorite gelato flavor and the chef who created it. The winner will continue the journey towards the final of the Gelato Festival World Masters 2021. Share with your little ones the right to vote as those under 18 will have a vote too!

  • Bourbon Bacon Cannoli

    Un aggiornamento ai cannoli tradizionali, lo chef Mike ha deciso di incorporare due delle sue cose preferite: Bourbon e pancetta! Prendiamo la pancetta a taglio spesso di provenienza locale e la mariniamo nel Kentucky Bourbon. Quindi soffociamo la pancetta intrisa di bourbon con zucchero di canna e cuociamo in pancetta candita caramellata, dolce e deliziosa. La pancetta candita viene poi tagliata a dadini e mescolata in un gelato alla ricotta dolce e delicato. Una volta mescolati bene, mescoliamo in una scaglie di cioccolato stracciatella. Infine, piovigginiamo uno sciroppo d'acero canadese di grado A completamente naturale durante l'intruglio di cannoli allo chef Mike!

    During each stage of Gelato Festival America, the chefs will have the chance to participate to a fun filled moment with the Speed Cup Race Competition, sponsored by ISA. Speed Cup Race is about being fast as well as being neat. Rules are simple, fill as many cups as possible by using the “spatula” as in the traditional Italian way. Each chef has 30 seconds to serve as many perfect servings as possible.

    Speed is King! After picking a card to find out your penalty, try and serve as many Gelato portions in your allotted time as you can. Artisan with the most points wins!

    The master Nino De Pasquale (technical chief elenka) will try in the preparation of the taste Cassata Siciliana variegated during the mantecation with the taste Nero Modicano.

    Finally, it will embellish the taste with a decoration from the Sicilian tradition and we will end our activity with the tasting.
